Car Park The main car park of Royal Troon Golf Club will be available for competitors to use on a first come first serve basis however players must change shoes/clothing in the Clubhouse (see Clubhouse arrangements below). Overflow car parking is available in the surrounding streets or in the public beach car park. Please obey the instructions of the car park attendants who will be on duty on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. The Scottish Golf Union and Royal Troon Golf Club cannot accept responsibility for any damage to cars.
Catering Catering in the Ailsa Room will be available from 6.00am on the first three days of the Championship and from 7.15am thereafter. Catering will be available up until 30 minutes after close of play. All catering is at the competitor's expense.
Clubhouse The clubhouse will open each day at 6.00am. Competitors, families and guests may use the clubhouse facilities. However the following rules apply:
Ailsa Room – Mixed lounge offering competitors, families and guests the opportunity to relax, drink or eat looking out over the 18th hole. Dress regulations are smart/casual i.e. jeans, denim trousers, shorts, sleeveless or collarless shirts, shell suits and training shoes are prohibited. Shorts whether tailored or not, are not permitted on course or in the Clubhouse.
Club Bar – Spike bar offering male competitors and male guests aged 16 or over, an additional area in which to relax, drink or eat. Dress regulations are smart/casual i.e. jeans, denim trousers, shorts, sleeveless or collarless shirts, shell suits and training shoes are prohibited. Shorts whether tailored or not, are not permitted on course or in the Clubhouse.
Dining Room – Competitors may dine in this room however jacket, collar and tie must be worn.
Smoke Room – Reserved for members.
Soft spikes are permitted throughout the hallway, changing rooms, Ailsa Room and Club Bar. Mobile phones are prohibited within the clubhouse.
Changing facilities are available in the Gents Locker Rooms (sections D, E and F) where showers, towels and small security lockers are available. Towels must under no circumstances be taken on the course or removed from the changing rooms. Please be reminded that the changing of shoes and clothing in the main car park is strictly forbidden and therefore competitors must use the facilities outlined above.
Caddie Cars, Yardage Books and Caddies The professional’s shop has a limited number of caddie cars available for hire. Yardage books will be available from the professional’s shop. Caddies are available if booked in advance by telephoning 01292 310059.
Course & Play Competitors must report to the Championship Mobile Office at least 30 minutes prior to their starting times that are shown in the official draw sheet.
Each competitor will be issued with a copy of the local rules, pin positions and pace of play guidelines when registering at the Championship Mobile Office.
COMPETITORS MUST REPORT TO THE OFFICIAL STARTER AT THE FIRST TEE 5 MINUTES BEFORE THEY ARE DUE TO PLAY. Competitors are reminded that late arrival at the first tee will result in disqualification as no provision has been made under Rule 6-3.
THE WEARING OF JEANS, DENIM TROUSERS, SHORTS, SLEEVELESS OR COLLARLESS SHIRTS, SHELL SUITS AND TRAINING SHOES IS NOT PERMITTED. Shorts whether tailored or not, are not permitted on course or in the Clubhouse.
When a match is over, play must stop and the winner report the result without undue delay to the official recorder situated in the Championship Mobile Office.
Etiquette In the interests of all, players should play without delay, leave a bunker as you would expect to find them, replace divots and repair pitch marks.
Insurance The entry fee includes cover in respect of competitors legal liability in the event of injury to another person or damage to a third party property. An excess of £15 will apply.
Practice The club has very kindly granted courtesy of the course for one practice round during any of the following dates/times: Friday 24 July After 3.00pm Saturday 25 July 3.00 – 6.00pm Sunday 26 July 2.00 – 6.00pm
Competitors unable to practice within the official practice periods may arrange an alternative time by prior arrangement with the Club and subject to availability. Bookings for practice times must be made in advance by telephoning the Caddiemaster at Royal Troon GC on 01292 310059.
NB: Demand for practice times on Sunday 26 July is expected to be extremely high therefore competitors local to Troon are respectfully asked and encouraged to utilise the practice times on Friday 24 and Saturday 25 July.
General Practice Conditions Competitors may play from the Championship Tees. Except in accordance with the Rules of Golf, a competitor in a practice round must not have more than one ball in play. Exception - if a player misses a green with his approach shot, he may play one additional shot.
Practice Ground Competitors may use the club practice ground. However the practice ground is situated in an area where car parking is restricted therefore a complimentary shuttle mini bus service, commencing 1 hour before the first tee-time each day (Sunday to Thursday lunchtime), will operate to and from the Clubhouse and Practice Ground.
PRACTICE BALLS MUST NOT BE REMOVED FROM THE RANGE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. ANY PLAYER FOUND GUILTY OF THIS ACTION WILL BE LIABLE TO DISCIPLINARY ACTION BY THE CHAMPIONSHIP COMMITTEE.
The practice ground opening and closing times are as follows:
Competitors may use the club’s practice facilities during the week from Sunday 26 July at 12.30 to Saturday 1 August outwith the times listed above by supplying own practice balls.
There are two practice putting greens adjacent to the Clubhouse. Competitors may use for practice putting only i.e. chipping onto these greens is strictly prohibited.
Presentation Bronze medals will be presented to the losing Semi-Finalists at the close of play on Friday 31 July. The Championship trophy and Finalist medals will be presented at the close of play on Saturday 1 August. Medal winners are expected to attend the relevant prizegiving.
Responsibility Royal Troon Golf Club and the Scottish Golf Union do not accept responsibility for players’ property during the Championship or on the days when practice is permitted.
Accommodation The Scottish Bowling Championships are being played in Ayr during the same week and as such demand for accommodation will be high therefore you are advised to book early.

Directions Drivers from Glasgow and Paisley should take the A77 or A736. From the North and East, drivers should use the A77 and A71. Traffic from England and South should take the M6, A74, A75, A76 and A77 to Troon. Once at Troon, follow AA direction signs for Scottish Amateur Championship.
